Every now and again you discover a secret place to escape and wonder whether you should share it with friends or not. But when something is as superlative as Woodlands Retreat, it really deserves to be spoken of - if only in whispers to very close friends.Set within a secluded valley overlooking the Porongurup ranges, this couples' hideaway derives its beauty not only from the inspiring setting but the clever design. A spacious deck unites two pavilions - one houses a glorious living, dining and kitchen and up a level is a queen bedroom with ensuite. The other pavilion is for the indulgence offered by a hydrotherapy spa. Both share in the panoramic views so whether you are relaxing fireside, sipping Champagne on the star-lit deck or rejuvenating in the spa, the changing mountain scene unfolds before you.
In a quiet moment (and there are many) you really can feel a spiritual vibe emanating from the mountains, the valley and the wildlife that comes to drink at the dam below. It is true there are wineries nearby, a gourmet Thai restaurant up the road and mountain walks to undertake. But we're willing to bet that once arrived you'll never want to leave.
