Cote d’Azure, Ulladulla styleDon’t be deceived by the old-fashioned elegance implied in the name Ulladulla Guest House. Yes, it’s certainly a guesthouse but one you might expect to find at Cap d’Antibes rather than on the NSW south coast. Its French restaurant, Elizans, has won a swag of awards for its cuisine and wine list, it has a permanent art gallery that is recognised as one of the finest regional showcases in Australia, and the ambience is one of sophisticated European relaxation. All this is set within a striking tropical garden that is a pleasure to explore.
The lounge at the Guest House nicely illustrates the tone of the whole place: an elegant room featuring plush sofas, a library of books, hanging lights, tiffany lamps and a wood fire for cold nights. It makes the ideal setting for an aperitif before embarking on a degustation menu at the acclaimed in-house French restaurant. Afterwards you can retire to your beautifully presented abode; the rooms include self-contained units (where your well-behaved dog is welcome too) and luxury suites with spas. There is even an in-house spa.
The Art Gallery is a magnificent creation that features work by Meagan Jacobs, Graeme Nilsson and Judy Trick, and an ever-changing compendium of regional artists.
