Review by Beautiful Accommodation
Divine right to pleasureBonding time with your clan members requires somewhere special to make it truly memorable. So where better to congregate than the stunning, converted Old Church in the Byron Bay hinterland? This brilliant renovation took eight years to complete and creatively uses the vast space of the old structure to make a playground for guests today.
Down where the pews once stood is an astounding living space with a refectory dining table that can seat 12 and there are also deep leather chesterfield lounges. The atmosphere is unique with cathedral ceilings and peaked church windows that flood the floor with light. Feeding your flock is easily done in the gigantic chef’s kitchen, which includes a huge Beaumatic oven and miles of bench space. Get everyone cooking together here. The four bedrooms are divinely uncluttered retreats from the main house and there are two bathrooms to keep everyone polished. A separate games room and barbecue deck overlooking the heavenly garden complete this paradise.
The Newrybar neighbourhood is delightful. Around the corner is the acclaimed Harvest Cafe, where head chef Joseph Griffin does wonders with local produce. Olivia Newton-John’s Gaia Retreat and Spa is nearby for pampering. All the beaches and fun of Byron are just minutes away.
