When we arrived at The Ocean Retreat, we were awe-struck by our discovery. It is a stunning building in a breathtaking spot and we found it hard not to gaze dreamily out to the ocean for ages simply admiring the view. The east coast of Tasmania is spectacular but the modernist architecture of The Ocean Retreat more than matches its unsurpassed location. If you love contemporary design in a picture-postcard setting, you will adore this new Tassie escape.
Everything about this private retreat’s design is focused towards to the sea. Its long, clean lines draw your eyes across the gorgeous fireplace through walls of glass to the heated plunge pool and the water beyond. In fact, the pool and deck are designed to give you the feeling of floating above the ocean. Add a sensational sunrise and an outdoor fireplace to the mix and the scene is set for a magical evening.
Of course, architecture and views are just part of the story. This amazing house is exquisitely set up for an indulgent getaway for just two or for groups to enjoy (with four beautiful bedrooms each with their own ensuite).The kitchen is a gourmand's dream and catering supploes are available on request.
