Any trip to Queensland inevitably includes a rainforest tour as a sensory highlight: the myriad shades of green flickering in the immense quiet, the secretive marsupials, and the vague scent of lemon and gum. At The Narrows Escape you can go one step further and stay in the midst of a private forest valley.Your personal rainforest tour begins as you sip a complimentary aperitif on the balcony hammock, listening to the distant fall of water from the creek that cuts the valley. But this highly commended property – a leader in its area on TripAdvisor – is anything but a bush camp. Hosts Joanne and Mark Skinner have gleaned the best bits from their own five-star travels. There are cosy robes to slip into, vast spa baths placed to soak up the views, and endless little treats and creams and soaps to test and try. Romance and generosity of spirit are on show everywhere.
The Skinners can organise day trips away to fabulous Fraser Island or lunch and tastings at the famous Flame Hill winery. A richly rewarding eco-travel experience.
