The Heavens Mountain Escape
Barrengarry
Kangaroo Valley
Review by Beautiful Accommodation
Up here in the heavensUp, up where the air is clear pretty much describes The Heavens. This gorgeous 160-acre property perches on a plateau on Kangaroo Valley’s sandstone walls. To say the views from this idyllic spot are breathtaking is a simple understatement; you will sit transfixed on your deck happily tracking the flight of distant eagles and the Gang-Gang species of cockatoo. Waking in your warm bed to gaze across the cloudtops is, well, heavenly.
There are three accommodation options. We particularly like the two self-contained, one-bedroom pavilions – Aurora and Innana – that feature superbly realised contemporary designs. The interiors of these curvaceous cottages are spacious and use recycled Australian hardwoods that have been revivified by local woodworkers. Every room glories in the sensational panoramas, and the deck is a wonderful spot to sit with some binoculars and a pot of tea and play bird twitcher for a while. At night, there is a flickering gas fire to keep you cosy before you retire to the huge king-size bed. There is also a quaint two-bedroom cottage for families and friends to share.
The Kangaroo Valley-Berry district is renowned for its antique shops, farmers’ markets, cafes, galleries and hikes to waterfalls. Have fun!

My husband & I stayed here a few years ago for our wedding anniversary and it was so beautiful. We watched about 3 storms come through the valley in the one night and it was so romantic! The next morning we woke up to watch kangaroos bounding across the hills. Magical place.
