The Falls Mountain Retreat ticks all our boxes for a contemporary self-contained stay in the Blue Mountains. Waking up on a misty morning in one of the spacious apartments is a dreamy experience. Soon the mist will lift, revealing towering pines and walkways to dramatic landscapes of sandstone canyons and waterfalls.

You can bring your partner, family or whole company here and be assured of a sublime stay. We love the lofts, with their flickering flame gas fires, peaked roofs and fine views. The designers have brought a real contemporary verve to these large, gracious spaces: the furnishings and fittings are quietly sophisticated with nods to the past such as porthole mirrors and restrained mantels around the fireplaces. There are also one and two-bedroom apartments, and some very groovy (and very affordable) studios for those who prefer cosy comfort. Whichever you choose, all have one or two bathrooms, each with a two-person hydrotherapy spa bath with 18 adjustable jets.

There are links to 16 different walking trails within 200 metres of The Retreat, including a 20-minute stroll to lookouts over the crashing power of Wentworth Falls. Galleries, restaurants, golf courses and gorgeous public gardens are within easy reach.
