In the bower of loveWhen a bowerbird seeks a mate, he builds a tunnel-like nest – or bower – and fills it with colourful curios to catch his love’s attention. This design inspired Sue and Mark Berry’s brief to their architect when they planned their ultra-contemporary accommodation. They wanted their ‘bowers’ to be romantic bush havens that resonate with the surrounding landscape. The result? A dazzling collection of cathedrals of light and air that soon have couples swooning in relaxed delight.
Your Bower at Broulee mimics the bower design, although its comfort level is something else altogether. The fire-lit lounges are flooded with light by day and have the airy grandeur of bush basilicas. As you relax into a sofa with some chilled bubbles in hand, it is like being at some vast gallery of Australian landscapes. Gorgeous double spas off to the side beckon lovers to soak away their cares and reconnect in utter privacy. And further down the bower is a sublime bedroom with king-size bed.
Broulee is near some of the south coast’s best beaches and the gorgeous little 1850s gold town of Mogo. Here you can let your inner bowerbird out of its cage and hunt for antiques and bric-a-brac.
