Look up the definition of ‘beachside cottage’ and you’ll likely find a photo of St Ives Cottage. Everything about this beachy stay has the coastal cool look down-pat, from the can’t-miss-it bright blue exterior to the fresh interiors and large wraparound deck.

The cottage is located a short walk (500 metres to be precise) from the calm waters of a bayside beach in Rye, but don’t worry about packing all of your beach-going kit, because St Ives provides that too – there’s a stash of beach toys for you and your gang to make the most of. If you prefer grass to sand underneath your toes, the large backyard is totally enclosed thanks to a high fence and native plants. There’s also a swing set for children (or big kids at heart).

St Ives Cottage boasts three comfortable bedrooms and an airy lounge area. Those that take a beach escape during the cooler months have the option of lighting the wood-burning fire, too.
