Head along the Great Ocean Road, with all its shore-hugging magnificence, then turn up Lighthouse Road towards Cape Otway’s famous lighthouse for a memorable drive that will transport you to these cottages. This is the heart of the Otway Ranges and you will be amazed at the wildlife – koalas in trees, kangaroos hopping in the fields and a plethora of birds.
But this is but a mere public introduction to your private sanctuary at Shearwater Cottages Cape Otway, where you can enjoy your very own ocean and Otway views.
As you wind your way through the farm and across Banksia-clad sand dunes, you will discover your own slice of Australian coastal bush paradise complete with well-spaced and private cottages, a menagerie of native animals and the everchanging drama of the Southern Ocean’s dramatic coastal weather – in all its moods – complete with some memorable sunsets.
There are four cottages to choose from here. Three are log-cabin country charmers and one is elevated with a contemporary look. We love this cottage for its feeling of being suspended in the treetops.
Each option is perfect for a couple, a family or friends wanting a private bush paradise. As a bonus, they are pet-friendly, which will have you and your poochy mates wagging with delight. Horses are also welcome.
