Imagine the perfect beach house. It must be absolute beachfront so you can watch the waves roll in, and preferably within walking distance to a village with sensational restaurants, shops and cafes. The ocean views should be awe-inspiring and maybe include an iconic lighthouse. The house itself must be stylish and have plenty of space so families and friends can spread out. Well, we have found a place that ticks all the boxes: Sandcastles at Port Fairy.
Port Fairy itself needs no introduction, with its fabulous mix of history, good food, quaint riverfront and ocean beaches. What is magical about Sandcastles is that all of this is at your doorstop. Step out the front over your lush lawn and straight onto the beach. Head out the back and the river Moyne is waiting for you. Cross the bridge and everything you need is within walking distance.
But if Port Fairy is gorgeous, Sandcastles is stunning. It is a two-storey house with exquisite designer touches, two oceanfront decks, 180-degree views and two separate lounges (perfect for travelling with children). Plus, there are six bedrooms that sleep a total of 14, so it makes for a sensational group getaway. In a word: sublime.
