Rattleys at Pear Tree Hollow
Inman Valley
Review by Beautiful Accommodation
When Johnathon Rattley settled here in 1865 and established a saddlery and cottage, he planted a pear tree. The cottage foundations are all that remain of his dwelling but the pear tree lives on – an iconic patron watching over this peaceful hollow.Today, guests can discover why Johnathon picked this spot to make his home – the views down the Inman Valley are spectacular. Lovingly hand-built to owners Fay and Bruce Burford's design, Rattleys offers cosy country charm, a lounge with wood fire, a country kitchen and a beautiful bedroom. Powered by solar and wind, this is an eco-credible stay that harmonises with its environs.
Old Rattley would hardly recognise the property nowadays; it has flourished as a parkland garden under the diligent care of Fay and Bruce. Once-eroded paddocks are now bursting with vibrant colours from the cottage and native gardens. It is little wonder that blue wrens, a variety of honeyeaters, wedge-tailed eagles, blackshouldered kites and golden whistlers call this home. Whether you want to walk the Heysen Trail, head to nearby beaches or rest here on the way to or from Kangaroo Island, we think you will fall under the spell of this enchanting hilltop cottage.

Beautiful views, beautiful cottage lovingly created. Warm welcome from Fay and Bruce, you really feel at home straighaway. It's eco power, so no washer, drier or dishwasher, but everything else you could want.
