Think Great Ocean Road, and you normally think ‘sun, surf and sand’. But anyone who has discovered this bushland retreat only a few kilometres from Lorne’s town and beach can also add ‘art, architecture, entertainment and good food’ to the intriguing Qdos experience.Owner Graeme Wilkie is a ceramicist (his works dot the gallery and sculpture garden) but he is also a true patron with everchanging visual, cultural, musical and performing artists being represented at Qdos Arts. Add a highly rated cafebar, complete with woodfired oven for making bread and other goodies, and Qdos is now a vibrant part of the heart of Lorne and, indeed, the Great Ocean Road.
Graeme is driven by beauty, creativity and harmony, and these elements are reflected in his five Japanese inspired retreats for couples. Perched throughout this majestic Otway Ranges setting, each Tree house features authentic tatami mats, shoji screens, a plethora of art and design books, Graeme’s own artworks and ceramics, plus a relaxing deck hanging over the bushland.
The grounds themselves are incredibly inviting: stroll the lilypad style walking paths, discover each intriguing piece of sculpture and pause by the peaceful pond with its myriad birdlife.
The location makes a most beautiful, unique spot for weddings and events.
