Patly Hill Farm is the proverbial overflowing basket of plenty, a cornucopia of gourmet delights and the fruits of its orchards, nurtured under the watchful eyes of its farmer-hosts, Stephen and Caroline Gill. Lovingly tended olive groves, fruit trees and vegetable gardens produce extra-virgin olive oils, table olives,preserves and delicious gastronomic goodies, which are sold through their farm shop and gallery and selected outlets in the Clare Valley and a variety of locales beyond.
This is one pretty farm gate that invites more than just a passing visit – guests settle in, relax and absorb the Tuscan charm of this stunning pocket of South Australia. There are four guest rooms, each stylishly decorated in a blend of Australian country flair with luxurious accents including Persian carpets and iPod docks.
The wonderful central lounge is perfect for small groups of up to 12 to gather and spend time together, perhaps sampling a platter of local treats or planning where to explore next in the Clare region. If you love the ‘slow food' philosophy of meeting the farmer who grows their bounty, a stay on this hill will be a true delight.
