A stay at Oakdene is always a feast for the senses. It begins as soon as you enter the property with its avenue of massive cypresses standing to attention. Then the fun takes over with sprawling garden “rooms” inviting you to explore the plethora of whimsical sculptures – some boldly on display, others waiting to be discovered. There is the alternative sensory experience of the Upside- Down House cellar door for tasting the estate-grown wines and olive oils. And who could resist patting the cute alpacas?The gardens, art and wines are just an introduction to Oakdene’s real drawcard – Marty Chichester’s dishes that capitalise on the regional produce are highly recommended by The Age Good Food Guide. Enjoy the innovative contemporary cuisine in the eclectically colourful restaurant or outside in the courtyard garden on a warm day. Oakdene is also the perfect spot for a memorable garden wedding or a function in one of the private dining rooms.
To complete your experience, choose one of the three creative guest rooms upstairs. Hot pink with touches of Marilyn Monroe? Earthy tones with a loft-type experience? Or cool blue hues with an intriguing ensuite in a cleverly designed water tank? Whatever you do at Oakdene, you will be on a whimsical tour of discovery – we love it!
