Serenity amongst the trees

Chic and contemporary boutique accommodation does not get much better than Mollisons. Housed in a magnificently imposing 1903-built former Bank of New South Wales, Mollisons has plenty of appeal.

It is an exquisite blend of fine period features, including high ceilings, polished boards and grand staircases, with statement antiques and the elegant simplicity of a minimalist white interior design.

The result is a serene small hotel in the heart of Kyneton, within walking distance of the town's lauded restaurants, cafes and galleries. Mollisons does have an unfair advantage. Co-owner Debbie Myers is an interior decorator and the old banking chamber houses Mollisons' own retail concept store showcasing unique jewellery, homewares, stylish gifts, clothes and furniture. Mollisons has also developed the concept of 'shop where you sleep'. Like the bed, linen or furniture in your room? Just ask the price and you can take it home with you.

The rooms all showcase Mollisons' luxurious design style. There is a two-bedroom, self-contained apartment upstairs, which is actually house-sized and features a long undercover balcony. Downstairs is a one-bedroom suite. Plus, there is a total of six other beautiful hotel rooms, some with private outdoor decks overlooking the garden. We love it.
