Review by Beautiful Accommodation
Tinker, tailor, potter, guestMilton Country Cottages has received state and national tourism awards and also earned itself rave reviews in publications such as the Sun Herald. You’ll quickly see why when you arrive at this charming artist’s retreat near the historic (and quite hip) little town of Milton. The property is the brainchild of the renowned potter Kees Staps and his wife Carol. Kees’ works feature on the property and he can provide guests with lessons. This is the only accommodation option in New South Wales that includes a ceramics studio and gallery.
There are three cottages set apart from each other, so you don’t need to rub shoulders with anyone if you prefer peace and quiet. The interiors feature a gorgeously eclectic melange of furnishings: a winged armchair here, a leather sofa there, and a blonde timber dining table to share a meal. But it all comes together in a serenely relaxed tableau that is sunlit by the huge picture windows. A gourmet breakfast is provided and there is an excellent massage service that will visit your cottage on request.
The birdlife in the garden is prolific and Lake Conjola is a very a pleasant 2.5km amble from the house. Just remember to take your fishing rod. Milton is a fun place for browsing and coffee.
