If you love gardens and incredible hilltop panoramas, and if the idea of watching alpacas wander through this setting appeals, MillDuck is the country escape for you.
Whimsical and surprising sculptures are dotted throughout the beautiful garden ‘rooms’ and the nearby picturesque lake is stunning. For any guests keen to explore a little further, there are inspiring walks throughout the 35-acre property to neighbouring hilltops for more sensational views.
The two private guest retreats feature a strawbale passive solar design and sun lounges invite relaxation under the willows. A windmill completes the backdrop. Here you could be forgiven for feeling like the only people in this slice of beautiful Goldfields country.
MillDuck is close to historic Maldon, with Castlemaine and Bendigo just up the road, so this is a perfect base for touring the region. But with a cosy wood fi re, double spa, classic verandah and Anzac macadamia biscuits to enjoy in your handcrafted strawbale retreat, you may just prefer to stay put and enjoy this magical setting.
