Sometimes you want to escape, but not drive for hours. If that strikes a chord, then this fabulous new find in the foothills of Mount Macedon, just 45 minutes from Melbourne, allows you more time for your enjoyment. You could even leave your car at home because the cottages are within walking distance of the train station (with a direct Melbourne service) and the village’s heritage pub. If you do want to explore, this historic town is the perfect base to discover the wineries, restaurants and galleries of the Macedon Ranges.
The cottages offer a range of styles. We love Jasmine and Magnolia, with their big open-plan living areas and spa ensuites. For two couples or a family, the two-storey Dahlia is house-sized and perfect for longer stays. Birch and Lavender are equally gorgeous – owner Pauline has a real knack for elegant decoration. The cottages and grounds are inspired by the English mews style and have a lovely English garden feel, complete with box hedges and sunny courtyards.
And if you are seeking group accommodation, book all of the cottages and it will make a memorable getaway for 14 people.
