Tropical heaven on a secluded lagoon
This is Darwin's best-kept secret and an experience you won't see in any package brochure. If you are coming to the Top End to see arresting landscapes and prolific wildlife, why not stay on the edge of a lagoon featured for its beauty in National Geographic magazine?
Knuckey Lagoons Villa is a private retreat catering to just one couple at a time. Privacy is the hallmark in this retreat – it's just you, a mango grove, the lagoons and luxe appointments such as a private pool with waterfall.
The theme is outback Australia meets Bali and the idea is to fling open all the doors and let the sensory experience take over. The aroma of frangipani wafts through, the tropical interiors weave a visual magic and the passing wildlife can be spotted from pool, veranda, lounge and even the bed. Prepare a breakfast or snack in the kitchenette and allow the tropical morning sun to warm you up for a day of adventure. Or simply do nothing all day.
The owners live well away, although on-hand, and there is no sign on the gate. It is just minutes to Darwin and Kakadu is an easy self-drive away. Tropical heaven does not get any more alluring.
