This exclusive villa is so far off the radar that most locals don't even know of it. Tucked within a tropical garden overlooking the Knuckey Lagoon wetlands, the Villa is just twenty minutes from Darwin's CBD. But you could easily be in Kakadu; this lagoon has the largest concentration of long-necked turtles in Australia (and recently attracted National Geographic magazine to photograph here).The Villa is idyllically tropical in design: louvered windows all around allow soft breezes to flow through. The open-plan, Baliinspired interior has a queen bed, a spacious lounge, dining and kitchenette and wide doors that swing open to enhance the inside-out feel. There is even a tropical pool with waterfall reserved for guests.
But the most appealing aspect of this hidden jewel is its privacy: just one villa secluded in lush greenery and a mango grove – well away from the owners' house. There isn't even a sign on the gate, so you may as well be in your own home. If your idea of paradise is a private tropical escape, close to Darwin yet in a precious wilderness setting, look no further.
