Bayside living in Melbourne is all about being close to the beach, having a host of swish wine bars andcafes nearby and a plethora of trendy shops to enjoy. And that’s exactly what you’ll get in this lovingly restored cottage in the chic suburb of Elwood.
The beauty of a renovated, selfcontained cottage such as Kerferd is the freedom of space and the ability to come and go as you please. Kerferd won’t disappoint in this respect, with a homey feel and plenty of room for up to four lucky guests.
Like its sister cottage Sweeny, Kerferd is named after the owner’s great grandfather– George Briscoe Kerferd – who became the 10th Premier of Victoria at the age of 30 during the heady Gold Rush era. The cottage today is a beguiling mix of early 20th century features and the latest in modern contemporary living. It has charming red brick exterior walls and timber fretwork offset by bright and breezily modern interiors. We particularly love the light-filled casual indoor/outdoor living area, with its floor-to-ceiling wall of windows looking out onto a pretty enclosed patio garden. There’s also a more formal lounge room and two seductively comfortable bedrooms.
Elwood is just a short tram ride to the CBD and other well-loved Melbourne suburbs like cool St Kilda and trendy South Yarra, making Kerferd the perfect residential base to explore all the city has to offer.
