Cool, calm city styleIf only every CBD was as lucky as Brisbane’s in having somewhere like Il Mondo on the doorstep. We admire this boutique hotel for its location in a quiet pocket just across the river from town and near the Gabba. The building stands proud next to Storey Bridge and offers all the convenience of city living together with an air of calmness that grid locked CBD choices cannot.
You get a wonderful choice of options here, depending on the size of your party, from hotel rooms to one-bedroom self-contained apartments or penthouses that can sleep up to six people. All rooms are decorated in a smoothly contemporary melange of chocolates, creams and whites with funky little cushions to add colour. Families are made very welcome here with cots, high chairs and rollaway beds available for older kids. Downstairs is a 20-metre lap pool and secure parking for your car.
The local Kangaroo Point neighbourhood has lovely riverside walks. Nearby are the Beautiful Beings day spa (see page XX) and Stephanies Spas (see page XX and XX) for pampering after a hard day in the city. And to finish the day, dine at the very tasty Italian-influenced restaurant, Pimento, which services the hotel and also provides takeaway and room service.
