Love among the vinesThe Hunter Valley Cooperage Bed and Breakfast earned its place in Beautiful Accommodation from the moment we first visited. It has a winning formula: put a five-star B&B in the middle of a gorgeously landscaped vineyard and winery in the Pokolbin district of the Hunter Valley. Then add all sorts of goodies such as complimentary port, chocolates, gourmet breakfasts, a Gold-Class standard movie theatre and hosts who love to share winemaking lore with fellow wine lovers. No wonder Gourmet Traveller raves about this gem.
Since our last visit, things have only got better. Gay and Warren Cooper have added a new accommodation option – the Champagne Suite – to their beautiful Vineyard Rooms and Scandinavian-influenced Retreat. Champagne is richly appointed with exquisite Turkish rugs, Chinese vases and items that reflect the hosts’ love of treasures from Istanbul and Asia. Couples will relish the double Kaldewei bath, double showers and sinks. This huge suite – it’s 12 metres wide with floor-to-ceiling glass – opens onto a deck and garden of Manturian pear trees and the vineyard.
The Coopers are mainstays of the Pokolbin district and can tell you about all the best cellar doors to visit, places to see and fooderies that are running hot.

One suite and three rooms (ensuite, LCD TV, DVD; suite with lounge); one self-contained retreat (two queens, kitchen, bathroom, lounge/dining). All with RC AC. Guest lounge/dining (fire), movie theatre. Tennis, boules, golf driving range. WiFi. Massage.

My husband and I stayed here on our wedding night and 1 night after. Everything was catered for - from allowing us to drop off our luggage in the morning prior to check in, to the beautifully cooked breakfast each morning. A glorious location - central to the heart of the hunter valley.
