Sensational old school charmerMagic happens when a property’s owners fall passionately in love with their estate, committing their lives and treasure to realising their restoration dreams. That’s the story at Heritage Retreat, where Ron and Elinor Scott have turned their prodigious design talents to an 1881 school house and principal’s residence. The result is a deluxe guest experience in rooms that faultlessly combine classic lines with modern treats such as glass baths and gourmet kitchens.
There are three beguiling options. The School House is an extraordinary melange of New York loft elements including exposed walls and groovy fittings (we love the Italian glass bath and waterfall). In the French suite, a brick round arch connects the bedroom with a gorgeous bathroom, featuring a claw-foot tub set on a stunning checkerboard floor. A big gourmet kitchen, courtyard dining area and a set of boules complete the provincial French picture. The River Wing basks in the soothing babble of water over rocks and adds to its water-worshipping with a deckside spa bath. You can even pop out to your own private croquet lawn.
Nearby are wonderful Hunter Valley walks, various golf courses and a selection of cellar doors to taste and visit.

Thank you so much for a wonderful weekend. The fire and spa were fantastic and we look forward to making this a yearly event. Everything was perfect and we coldn't have asked for a more romantic getaway.

Thank you very much for such a wonderful experience, a much needed break was made better then expected by the peaceful surroundings and pleasant atmosphere. Just what we needed. And it was lovely to walk out to beautiful weather and the friendly faces
of Ebony & Ivory, your friendly pets. We will definetly be coming back, maybe a little longer next time. We don't really want to leave but works calling

We had such a glorious time here. A very peaceful spot of the world. The only downfall is we stayed 3 days instead of 5! We love what you've done with the place. Take care, till our next visit here.
