When you feel the need to shrug off the business suit and slip on the walking shoes you will find no finer place than Goomburra Forest Retreat, which is set in one of southern Queensland’s most idyllic natural spots. The property is a registered nature refuge: it has resident wallabies and such an array of bird life that is mentioned in the birdwatchers’ bible Birding Australia.There are three cottages at Goomburra Forest Retreat, each one comfortably fitted out for a cosy stay (wool quilts, wood fires, spacious bathrooms). Everything has been thought of on your behalf; all you need do is grab something to throw on your barbecue and be sure to bring a bottle of wine to enjoy on the private balcony.
The Retreat is literally on the doorstep of the exquisite Main Range National Park (Goomburra Section) with its beautiful walking trails, spectacular lookouts (Mount Castle, Sylvester) and the delightful Araucaria Falls. There are inspirational walks to suit all levels from the easy one-kilometre Dalrymple Circuit (a chance to spot a family of native Australian pademelons) to the more challenging 12-kilometre Winder track.

Three cottages: two studio and one with separate bedroom. All with queen bed, lounge/dining (wood fire, DVD for movies), full kitchen, bathroom, fans, BBQ, undercover parking. Self-catering.
