Utter privacy awaits guests at the secluded beachside Glen Isla House, which is set in 2 acres of heritage gardens on the original Glen Isla Homestead. This is an elegant, luxurious small hotel with charming style and a sense of history dating from the 1870s. So if you want a swish address as your base to see the island’s famous penguins, experience the Motorcycle Grand Prix track or simply immerse yourself in island life, Glen Isla is the place for you.
Guests can choose from Classic Rooms with garden vistas, period- style furnishings and Molton Brown toiletries, or the old-world charm of the Anderson Heritage Suite with its gas log fire and Jacuzzi; if you prefer self-cater, there is the prettily situated two-bedroom Gate Cottage with 2 bedrooms, full kitchen and lounge. Across the beautiful English gardens is the guest lounge and dining room where passionate cooks prepare a chef-inspired full breakfast for in-house guests.
To top off its secluded setting, Glen Isla is a mere 100 metres from the sandy north-facing beach and just around the corner from Cowes and its selection of top restaurants; you could even conceivably leave the car parked and have bespoke Phillip Island tours pick you up from the door. The Ducati team stay here and love it – you won’t be disappointed either.
