Sometimes you find a place where creativity and ingenuity have been allowed to express themselves without any restrictions, and that is just what you get at Dreamers Mountain Village. This whimsical, quirky and luxurious haven of self-contained resort-style indulgence was created by eco-architect Mal Lee and his interior designer wife Wendy.The setting is suitably magical, with five acres of lush gardens and a trout lake, which has a pontoon that is great for afternoon drinks. There is also a lagoon-style pool and Balinese-inspired pavilion, which is perfect for weddings and special events. To complete the picture, you have the stunning Bogong High Plains as your backdrop, which are snow-capped in winter.
We have always loved the charming chalets dotted throughout the grounds, but it is the new eco-apartments that really express Mal and Wendy’s passion for the creative and unusual with an eco-luxury sensibility. Walls are of rammed earth, double-glazed glass, padded with leather, or feature recycled timbers, while decorating whimsy includes intriguing wallpaper (be sure to look up). Industrial materials are reborn to create practical sculptural pieces, including the most unusual baths we have ever seen, and cosy fires are supplemented by healthy hydronic heating. The Penthouse apartment even features a private outdoor spa hidden under a huge tree.
Come as a couple, or with family and friends – you will be glad you discovered this dreamy year-round getaway.
