The curlew is a majestic night bird, rare in the south of Australia, but quite at home at Curlew Park Country House and its idyllic lakeside setting. When Pam and Daryl Foulis came here ten years ago this was a barren paddock. Today it is a haven for wildlife and the welcome guests who repeatedly come here to share its profound tranquillity.Curlew Park's design was inspired by traditional outback homesteads and their high-pitched rooflines, which stand out on the horizon like friendly beacons. But Curlew Park takes this design and melds it with
contemporary interiors and a big helping of country hospitality. The heart of the homestead is the lounge with its crackling log fire in winter. A lovely collection of art adorns the walls.
Guests can choose from two rooms in this purpose built B&B and Pam prepares a country cooked breakfast each morning (with fresh homestead eggs, of course). You can eat dinner here too – an option that most guests take up, given that seasonal fare determines the menu (often with vegies from the garden and local lamb). Curlew Park is a relaxing waypoint for weary travellers between Melbourne and Adelaide.
