These two cottages are among the most romantic we have seen and the setting is simply enchanting. Arrive after dark and Melbourne’s shimmering skyline provides an awe-inspiring backdrop. The view reminds you that you really have escaped, which is hard to believe when Melbourne is just 45 minutesaway. Here is your very own secret mountain retreat.
Candlelight Cottage was built in the 1880s and has been beautifully renovated to provide everything for an indulgent getaway, yet still hints at its historic past. The second cottage, Twilight is a recent addition to the property but has many heritage features. An open wood fire, antiques and polished floorboards provide a cosy ambience, while a double spa, kitchen and coffee machine are luxurious nods to today’s necessities.
The attention to detail is exceptional. These cottages are so well provisioned and decorated (there are fresh flowers everywhere) we could not think of anything else we needed. With their own courtyard gardens and the sound of water trickling through the grounds, it is easy to imagine hiding away for a few days.
If you do want to explore, the cottages are within walking distance of Olinda and Mt Dandenong. The extraordinary Cloudehill Gardens are nearby, and Yarra Valley winery and ballooning tours can be arranged. The renowned Wild Oak restaurant also offers a free chauffeur service for guests.

Have stayed at the Candlelight Cottage twice, and each time was always excellent...My husband and I have our 18th Wedding Aniversary in August, and we have booked and planned to stay at the adjoining Cottage in the Village...We are so looking forward to this weekend away. My husband & I walked past the Cottage in the Village on a beautiful Sunday afternoon. I took one look as we walked past in wonder. I just fell in love with this cottage that we stayed at. It was my husbands Birthday. What a lovely treat for us both. Such beauty & delight. Wonderful helpful host who made our stay very comfortable. We look forward returning. A must! ....Dorothy & Andre
