Palatial whitehouse in the hillsByron Plantation provides a majestic resort-style farmstay in one of the district’s most verdant nooks. It is perched on a ridge near Newrybar and five minutes’ coffee run from the idyllic (and very hip) village of Bangalow. The views of the ocean across the macadamia nut plantations are inspiring and will have you looking up in awe from your book as you relax poolside.
The homestead was completed in 2006 and features a flowing interior layout with extraordinary panoramas from every window. Antique curios dot the stylish interior, nicely offsetting the modern comforts. There are two bathrooms and four big bedrooms, two with french windows that open onto the grand wraparound verandah. A couple of families or a party of friends exploring the Byron area will find plenty of room to spread out in absolute comfort here. The 100-acre property would also make an ideal setting for a spectacular wedding party, with a reception at Kassia Picone and Tristan Grier’s Harvest Cafe at Newrybar.
Byron Bay is a 12-minute drive away through a green and undulating landscape. Do check out Bangalow, which is the only intact Federation-period village on Australia’s east coast. Just roam the streets looking for lattes, antique shops and artists’ galleries.
