They turned into sensational stays like Byron Cove Beach House, which has all that plus a plunge pool, steam room, sauna and landscaped grounds. And, even better, you are just a short amble along a bush track from the iconic Belongil Beach for swimming or long sandy-footed walks in the morning or evening.
Byron Cove’s owners Donna and Tramain Cassar have created exactly the right holiday vibe here, with tactile wooden floors, plantation louvres and crisp white ensuites. The attractively understated bedrooms are dressed in white linen and decorated with groovy original artworks and comfy furniture. All five bedrooms have an ensuite, plasma TV and individual air-conditioning. It’s a little bit Bali, a little bit Mediterranean, which makes it very Byron Bay. Every morning Donna offers guests a healthy continental breakfast buffet with fruit, toast and espresso coffee or tea.
Byron Bay is a lazy eight-minute walk along the beach and there are plenty of great places for coffee and meals including the hip Utopia cafe. The other way up the beach brings you to the iconic Treehouse for gourmet pizzas and cocktails.
