By the Bishop blessedBishop Samuel Marsden spared no expense when he built the now historic Bishop’s Court in Bathurst in 1870, paying for this magnificent ecclesiastical folly from his own deep pockets. The old evangelical Anglican could never have imagined the future role of his diocesan palace: as a luxurious stage for indulgence in food, wine and love. This is one of NSW’s great stays, which you should visit at least once in this life.
Every superlative is warranted here. The bedrooms are vast suites with glorious views over the 140-year-old garden. In the bishop’s former bedroom, there is a marbled ensuite bathroom with a huge tub for meditative soaking. We just love every corner of this house, including the second floor terrace lounge with treetop views over the parkland gardens. Bishop’s Court is renowned as a venue for weddings – it has its own private chapel, of course – and other special events. The breakfasts and dinners are simply superb, with elegant options such as dinner in the chapel lit by countless candles.
Bathurst is a vibrant regional NSW town with a fascinating collection of historic buildings and a growing reputation as a regional food and wine mecca.

Bishop's Court has everything to make your time there perfect. I found the rooms very comfortable and decorated tastefully. The food was exceptional and the service was first class. Christine and David and all the girls that work with them could not have
been more friendly and helpful. I will go back. It has every ingredient for a perfect holiday. Carole Salter (very happy guest)

Christine , David and there staff made our stay at bishops court very memorable .very thing from the room to the garden was perfect IT would be great with a group of friends in the winter siting by the fire with a port or in summer sitting in the garden
sipping a gin and tonic or what ever hopefully we will return to be pampered once again Edna & Gary garland
