The whole setting at Bendles Cottages sighs of romance, of discreet trysts in the lush gardens and of long lazy afternoons sprawled across crisp sheets. From the moment you pass through the gorgeous old arched bower out the front, you are entering a princely garden of earthly delights.The garden and cottages may be set in the rustic paradise of Maleny but the minute attention to the little details of comfort will appeal to urban sophisticates. Your very private cottage has scrumptious homemade cookies baked and waiting for you. There is a decanter of fine port to sip as you sit on your balcony overlooking the grotto gardens and sweeping lawns. And a breakfast, with treats like smoked salmon and scrambled eggs, is delivered to your hideaway on Saturday, Sunday and Monday mornings, while during the week you have continental breakfast provisions to prepare at your leisure.The balcony also makes for a perfect breakfast nook. Tennis anyone? Step out onto the court for a few sets if you’re feeling active.
The hosts are only there as you need them: to chauffeur you into town and back for a meal at a local restaurant (they’ll tell you which ones are the best) and to provide the daily servicing of your cottage. This is a perfectly presented, immaculately maintained paradise.
