Gliding high above Palm CoveThis is the Coral Sea panorama that postcards try to capture: a sheet of aquamarine water stretching to the horizon and dotted with mysterious islands. That is the bird’s eye vista from Bedrock at Palm Cove. This beautiful contemporary house is perched on a hillside that takes full advantage of its position, drawing in light, views and cooling sea breezes.
Bedrock has been purpose-built for holidaymakers who want the absolute best in appointments, fittings and design. There are four wonderful bedrooms and three bathrooms (including two ensuites), enough to house a party of up to eight friends or family members or even a small wedding party. Feeding your crew will be a communal pleasure with a kitchen blessed with Miele appliances. We were besotted with the incredible views from the whole kitchen-dining-lounge area, which is glazed with tall windows that bring the tropical world to you. The downstairs retreat will thrill teens who want a separate space. Out the back is a pool with sea views and barbecue deck for your seafood catch or steak.
Palm Cove’s beach, restaurants, bars and tours are all a three-minute drive down the hill but we doubt you’ll leave your hilltop perch for long. This is definitely a place to linger.
