Avonmore on the Park Boutique Hotel
Randwick
Sydney
Review by Beautiful Accommodation
An elegant terraceAvonmore is like a wonderfully layered confectionary, with twirls of creamy stone and delightfully sculpted highlights in chocolatey timber and cool white marble. This authentic piece of Sydney’s history was built in 1888 by the Irish-born railroad contractor John Walsh. Now it is one of the city’s charming boutique hotels, with 23 elegant rooms, a shaded courtyard and mosaic tiled floors.
The attention to period detail here is marvellous. In the bedrooms there are carved wooden bedheads, bentwood chairs and parlour tables draped in rich fabrics, and naturally, every room has an ensuite bathroom. Modern distractions, such as the LCD HD TVs, are discreetly placed in a way that doesn’t detract from the late-Victorian style. And there is also a bonus you don’t normally see in most hotels: each room has a small kitchenette for preparing snacks, light meals or breakfast.
There are plenty of places to eat in nearby Alison Road and Avoca Street. You can stroll over to watch the footy or cricket at the SCG or catch a race at Randwick, wander through Centennial Park or hop on a bus for the beaches at Bondi or Tamarama. The Ritz Theatre and the University of New South Wales are all easily reached.

Fabulous restored Victorian mansion. A truly delightful stay. Would most certainly recommend to anyone who loves a boutique, warm feel. Staff were fantastic - 24/hour reception and always helpful. 5 out of 5!
