Photos can barely capture the panoramic views from The Anchorage down to Chinamans Creek. The scene is framed by huge gum trees, a swathe of green lawn and a gorgeous native garden sweeping down to incredibly picturesque boats bobbing on the wide inlet below.There are three rooms to choose from, with the two downstairs having the best outlook as well as a private entrance, sitting area and verandah. Upstairs is the guest lounge and breakfast room, and this is where The Anchorage stands out from the self-catering crowd. What is really special about The Anchorage is Tricia’s breakfasts. She loves cooking for her guests and the magic element is that fabulous view from the breakfast room.
After such a great start to a Metung day, you might want to explore. Walk down the front of the house and join the waterside boardwalk that leads you into the heart of Metung. Pack a fishing line, hire a day boat or explore Ninety Mile Beach. At the end of the day, perch yourself on the special deck stools, high enough to see over the railing, admire the view and soak up the sun. Add a glass of wine and life couldn’t get much better.
