Thredbo Valley

Review by Beautiful Accommodation
Snowy Mountains highAlpine Habitats is showing the way of the future with its 18 ecologically sensitive ‘habitats’, which co-exist with a profoundly beautiful yet fragile eco-system. When you stay here, you tread lightly on the landscape with absolutely no sacrifices in luxury or comfort. The innovations include ethanol-burning fireplaces, renewable electricity use, passive solar architecture, worm farm waste management and low visual impact.
The self-contained habitats are aesthetically elegant and seem to have grown organically from their alpine hillsides. The views from the airy interiors or the expansive decks are breathtaking, whether it is spring flowers or winter snow drifts. A spare simplicity of interior design makes each habitat thoroughly pleasing. Lying back on the leather lounges or the king bed and listening to the bird calls and whispering wind is a thrill for the soul.
The location is ideal whether you are there for the snow, the wilderness walks or the calm. Flip a coin to decide between Perisher and Thredbo each day. Two of the Snowy’s great fooderies are within walking distance: the Thredbo Valley Wild Brumby Distillery (phenomenal comfort food and schnapps – try the butterscotch) and the award-winning Crackenback Cottage Restaurant – pop over for breakfast, lunch or dinner.
