West Coast (Strahan) Tasmania
Strahan is the gateway to one of the most outstanding wilderness areas on Earth: the famed World Heritage Area that encompasses majestic mountains, ancient rainforest and the wild waterways of the Franklin and Gordon Rivers. Strahan was once a mining and fishing port and home to timber cutters who sought prized native Australian timbers, particularly Huon pine. Today, Strahan's port bustles with cray boats and others seeking out Macquarie Harbour salmon.
