Anyone who travels to The Northern Territory must see the glories of Litchfield National Park. But a day trip there leaves you feeling unsatisfied, making Historic Retreat a great find. It takes at least three days to see the sights and the perfect base during that time is the heritage-listed Historic Retreat.
The name reflects its architectural importance as the largest of only three remaining G-style homes built before Cyclone Tracy. This is classic tropical living: an elevated building with walls of louvres for balmy breezes to flow freely through. We love the quality of both the restoration and the hospitality offered by Robert Hobbs and his business partner, Barry Rowlands. They are the creative brains behind the preservation. Their painstaking work has 
produced an immaculate B&B that draws together art and antiques, creating a sanctuary of calm and relaxation. Birdsong fills the air from dawn to dusk (there are at least 33 species in the lush gardens).
The personal butler (that's Robert) serves a sumptuous tropical breakfast to start the day and provides a turn-down service in the evening. Robert will help you plan sightseeing trips, ensuring that your stay is rewarding and rejuvenating.
