In literature and folk tales the potter's art has been linked to calm and creativity and these two states are very evident at Milton Country Cottages. Here, potter Kees Staps plies his ancient craft, using crystalline glazes whose changing behaviour in the kiln leads to each piece being unique. A pottery and sculpture gallery is now open to guests.
Kees and Carol have taken a similarly creative approach to their gorgeously hued, architect-designed cottages. Passive solar techniques include Hebel insulated wall panels and orientation to take advantage of winter sun and summer shade, with outside areas protected from the wind. Air-conditioning is provided for peak hot spells and log fires for the other extreme. There are large showers and spa baths, and check out the hand basins made in the pottery workshop. For the inner body (and soul) remedial and therapeutic massage, hot rocks and reflexology are offered, along with a range of pampering treatments.
 Tuck into a gourmet breakfast prepared from provisions in fully equipped kitchens, pick goodies from the vegetable garden and enjoy the bird life among 12 acres of native and exotic plants.
