Don't pack all your woollens when you come to Jaspers Brush because you are bound to realise that you absolutely need at least one garment from their range of superb alpaca fleece products. Hosts Leonie and Ian Winlaw share their 10-acre property with a herd of alpacas, whose fleece is renowned for its extraordinary warmth and non-prickly softness. And you get to try it in your doona.
But the doonas come later. First you will be welcomed with afternoon tea including home-made cake or biscuits. Sink yourself into a lounge chair on the wraparound verandah and absorb the breathtaking vista that stretches across the Shoalhaven plain from Gerringong to Jervis Bay. Stroll around the gardens and lanes or relax in the elegant lounge room with its extensive library of art, travel and gardening books.
In the evening, cosy up in front of the open fire before turning in. Your alpaca doona will
be waiting to wrap you up for a dreamy country sleep. And in the morning you will wake up to a fantastically generous breakfast including eggs from Jaspers' free-ranging ‘girls'. Location: 144km or two hours south of Sydney. RA 35 B6.
