As the old proverb goes, every cloud has a silver lining, but as it hardly rains here, guests at The Imperial Fine Accommodation can experience a down-to-earth silver lining as they explore the fascinating character of Broken Hill. From the Imperial you can visit a mine, view the Silver City Mint and Art Centre collection, take in Aboriginal art and craft galleries or learn all about the Royal Flying Doctor Service.
The Imperial offers five air-conditioned ensuite bedrooms in which modern comforts blend with the historic building's outback style. The guest kitchen has a mouth-watering range of breakfast goodies – including fresh fruit, The Imperial's own farm-fresh eggs and locally cured bacon – and guests receive a complimentary glass of spirits, port or beer in the lounge (by an open fire in the cooler months).
Rested and well nourished, you can take a heritage walk or drive around this quintessentially Australian outback town, have a yarn with local characters at the pub, and discover the art and inspiration of famous painters such as Pro Hart and Jack Absolom. This is surely the very heart of the Australian outback experience. Location: 1,115km or 14 hours west of Sydney. RA30 J2.
Facilities: Guesthouse: five rooms each with queen bed, ensuite, TV, DVD, RC AC. Guest lounge (log fire, billiard table). Saltwater pool. Full breakfast provisions provided, dinner by prior arrangement.
