Wombadah is a grand modern country guesthouse set amid vineyards and its own organic olive grove - and everywhere you are surrounded by the glorious rolling hills of Mudgee. The name means ‘land of wombats' in the local Aboriginal dialect but oddly, rather than wombats you are more likely to see wallabies, particularly at early morning and as dusk settles.
In the main homestead, choose from four elegant king-size guest rooms, each with private ensuites and verandahs. There's also a guest lounge (great for relaxing by the log fire) and a saltwater pool and spa for a refreshing dip. Close by are Mudgee's fantastic restaurants and some of the region's finest wineries including di Lusso, Steins, Lowe and Vinifera. Friendly hosts, Kaye and Ray, will help tailor a wine trail to suit your palate and interests.
