Built in 1870 to house the first Anglican Bishop of Bathurst, Bishops Court Estate is a two-storey Victorian manse that has been superbly restored to its former glory. The property is set on an acre of parkland and is steeped in local history. You can almost hear choral sounds of yesteryear as you wander through the grand chapel, which now provides a splendid setting for intimate weddings, lively cocktail parties or events that demand somewhere special.
The house and its seven very individual guest rooms are infused with an outstanding interior design sensibility that combines style with comfort. A sumptuous lounge, cosy library and formal dining, together with the Chapel, offer grand entertaining spaces. Nothing is too much trouble for the hosts, whether you want a winemaker's dinner, a gardening tour, or personalised packages tailored for families, friends or corporate groups.
We recommend you check out the Delizioso Cooking School, which provides gourmet cooking classes in Bathurst, including at local vineyards and Bishops Court. If your tired and weary soul needs some tender ministrations, Bishops Court Estate will be your salvation. Location: 205km or three hours west of Sydney. RA 26 G5.
Facilities: Historic home: seven guest rooms (king bed, ensuite or separate private bathroom), guest lounge (log fire, TV), library (TV), dining room, grand chapel for soirees. Full breakfast served. Visit this property's website
