Murraylands and Riverland
The Murraylands and Riverland regions of South Australia take their name and inspiration from the mighty Murray River — one of the world's great river systems. The Murray was a colonial-era lifeline and now no journey to South Australia is complete until you have reached the banks of this majestic river. Mark Twain compared it with the Mississippi. But this is a distinctively Australian river, a serpentine watercourse that writhes its way through a red landscape, spreading fertility and abundance.
