Simon St John spent his early working life in the hospitality industry, including being involved in the management of an exclusive ski lodge in Whistler, BC, Canada. In Australia, he worked as a researcher in the Federal Parliament, before spending fifteen years in the nutrition education field.
Simon has travelled extensively in Australia, the US, Europe, the Middle East and Africa.

In November 2005, Simon's guide Beautiful Accommodation in Queensland was awarded a Finalist award in the prestigious Queensland Tourism Awards (Media).

His next project was Beautiful Accommodation in South Australia, Western Australia and the Northern Territory which was released on 1st November 2006. With this title, Beautiful Accommodation now covers Australia. Simon was also editorial director for Beautiful Accommodation in New South Wales and the sixth edition of Beautiful Accommodation in Victoria and Tasmania. 

His latest edition is Beautiful Accommodation in Queensland and New South Wales.

Simon is also a freelance travel writer, with his work appearing in newspapers including the Brisbane Courier Mail and Melbourne Herald Sun as well as magazines including Aura. He also writes for the annual Select Hotels and Resorts International guide.
