About Beautiful Accommodation

The Beautiful Accommodation series (formerly known as Beautiful B&Bs & Small Hotels) was created by Jennifer Lamattina. Since their launch in 1997, there have been 11 best-selling and award-winning guides produced (now covering all states and territories in Australia).

The series was renamed Beautiful Accommodation to represent the wider range of accommodation styles that have emerged since the publication of the first book in 1997. The first edition to bear the new title was Beautiful Accommodation in Queensland, by Simon St John. Beautiful Accommodation in New South Wales by Jennifer Lamattina was released in November 2004; the 6th edition of Beautiful Accommodation in Victoria and Tasmania was released in November 2005. November 2006 saw the launch of Beautiful Accommodation in South Australia, Western Australia and the Northern Territory. The 10th anniversary year saw the launch of Beautiful Accommodation in Victoria and Tasmania (7th edition) and Beautiful Accommodation in Queensland and New South Wales.  

The aim of the Beautiful Accommodation series is to present a handpicked colletion of beautiful places to stay offering intimate travel experiences that go beyond the selection offered in the usual travel brochures.

Our reviewers and photographers personally visit each and every property in our books - resulting in beautiful photography, a descriptive review and contact details for each property featured in stunning full colour guidebooks.

Entry into the guides is by invitation following a visit by a member of the Beautiful Accommodation review team (see below). Unlike many other guides, every property in the book was visited before being invited to participate. Properties that did not meet our criteria were simply not invited. Once invited, the properties are asked to pay a contribution fee to be part of the guides, which helps defray the costs of production.
