Peaceful Bay was an inspired choice for Linda and Chris Hoskins’ tree-change move from suburban Perth to raise their family in the beauty of Western Australia’s southwest. They found that perfect combination of ocean, nature and, yes, peacefulness.Nutkin Lodge has two family friendly chalets that are set well apart from each other. Each is decorated in a fresh contemporary style with three unfussy bedrooms, a lounge and full kitchen. There are ocean views from both chalets, which points to why this is such a marvellous place for a holiday that combines bush adventures with beach fun. But the ocean is not the only thing you’ll see from your balcony: expect to spot kangaroos, sea eagles and possums as you dine alfresco with backing songs from the countless birds.
This property is under the Land for Wildlife program, and importantly is within the five square kilometres in the world that the Ficifolia tree is endemic. And being adjacent to the Bibbulmun Track, nature lovers are spoilt for walks: the Valley of the Giants Tree Top Walk and Dinosaur Museum are close by.
