One of the beauties of Hobart is that only 20 minutes out of the city you can find yourself in an idyllic rural retreat like Margate Cottage. In a delightful garden setting, and with lovely views of bush-clad mountains, Margate Cottage offers the choice of the private Garden Cottage or tranquil Hillcroft Retreat.Both are furnished with restrained elegance with plenty of space, queen-size beds and fluffy doonas, and outdoor areas to enjoy the views and garden. On top of its attention to detail and high levels of personal service if required, Margate Cottage’s signature treat is its extravagant continental breakfasts that include a variety of juices, cereals, yoghurt, fresh fruits breads and pastries, and for a little extra a fully cooked option that might include free-range scrambled eggs, home-grown tomatoes and smoked salmon Eggs Benedict.
Enjoy the river walk with its abundance of birds, platypuses and wallabies, and make the most of Margate Cottage’s location close to Hobart, the Huon Valley, Bruny Island and all of Southern Tasmania’s attractions.

One cottage and one retreat: each with lounge/sitting area (TV, DVD, CD), queen bedroom (Hillcroft with extra single bed), bathroom (claw-foot bath in cottage), log heater, verandah or balcony. Continental breakfast served in dining room (full breakfast available).

This is the only place to stay, one night is never enough! The accommodation is beautiful decorated and is immaculately presented with all the creature comforts to keep you warm on those chillier evenings. You can sit in the picturesque gardens and take in the magnificence views of the surrounding mountains and truly relax with nothing but the local wildlife to keep you company. Robyn and Leigh are outstanding hosts, their hospitality is truly exceptional. You cannot leave without treating yourself to a “hot breakfast”, absolutely delicious! Margate Boutique B & B is our home away from home, simply superb!

Stayed in the lovely Hillcroft Retreat and what a delight it was, warm and cosy with lovely decor and great surroundings. Fantastic wildlife at your doorstep and wonderful homemade jam. A must if you visit Tasmania!

Brilliant! Absolute attention to detail. Owners were so warm and so willing to please. Garden cottage was beautifully furnished and immaculately clean. Beautiful gardens and mountain views. Breakfast was superb. Margate Cottage Boutique B & B was SO good we didn't want to leave.

This venue was selected as the choice for our wedding, having visited 2 years previously whilst holidaying from the UK. As the accommodation and location were fantastic, it was the only place in the world on our shortlist! Robyn and Leigh did us proud. Our special day was perfect in every respect thanks to their superb attention to detail and organisation which we knew would be guaranteed.
