High atop rolling hills with views seemingly to the very corners of the earth, MillDuck Strawbale B&B offers a uniquely handcrafted strawbale escape with some rather special surprises thrown into the mix. The first surprise is the uplifting feeling you get staying in an eco-stylish strawbale structure (truly, made of straw!) with its thermal cosiness, curvaceous walls and an interior that oozes comfort: a deep bed, spa and wood fire and home-baked biscuits.You’ll want to step out and explore this 35-acre property fairly quickly after arriving because more surprises await. This is also a respected alpaca breeding farm and these adorable animals love to meet and greet guests; have a picnic in the field and they will come and stand peacefully with you. Dotted around the property are more enchantments, including verdant gardens bursting with colour, charming rustic sculptures with country Australian themes, and walks that reveal more of the amazing views.
Being located within easy reach of historic Maldon, Castlemaine and Bendigo means you don’t have to go far for an outing or gourmet meal, but we are sure you’ll quickly return to your hideaway at the top of the world.
